There is not a sharp corner anywhere on this bed. The headboard rises and turns over at the top, the footboard turns with it, and inside both runs a set of nested arches - one inside the next, like ripples caught mid-spread. Then the television comes up out of the footboard on a remote, sits there for as long as the film lasts, and goes back down. Nothing about the room changes when it does.
The lift is motorised and remote-controlled, built for screens up to 55 inches and 40kg, with the mechanism, the power feed and the cabling all routed inside the frame. No bracket in the plasterboard, no cable down the wall, no stand in the corner.
The arches are the whole job
They are not stitched lines pressed into a flat panel. Each arch is a separate padded form, built over a curved hardwood rib and then wrapped, which is why the shadow between them holds its depth from every angle in the room instead of flattening out when you walk past. It is slow work, and it is the difference between a bed that looks curved in a photograph and one that still looks curved at eleven at night with one lamp on.
Volta is the Italian word for a vault - the arch a Roman mason reached for when he wanted something to carry weight and look calm doing it. It is the oldest idea in Italian building, and it does the same work here in soft form. The frame underneath is hardwood, which matters more on a television bed than an ordinary one, because a moving mechanism puts load through the footboard every single day. Every Volta is built and hand-finished in our Liversedge workshop, arch by arch.
All of it is wrapped in cream boucle: a looped, nubby weave that reads as warmth rather than gloss, catches light softly across a curve where a flat velvet would shine in a hard line, and hides the marks of daily life far better than a smooth fabric does. It is the fabric that makes the whole shape make sense.
What makes the Volta work
- Nested arch headboard and footboard - each arch a separate padded form over a curved hardwood rib, not stitching applied to a flat panel
- Motorised footboard TV lift - remote-controlled, for screens up to 55 inches and 40kg, fully concealed when down
- Boucle upholstery throughout - a looped weave chosen for touch, for how it takes light across a curve, and for how forgivingly it wears
- No hard edges anywhere - every corner radiused, which is worth knowing if the bed sits in a walkway or a room used by children
- Hardwood internal frame and concealed cabling - the structural work that keeps a moving mechanism feeling solid and the room looking empty of wires
Choosing your fabric
The Volta is upholstered to order in any of our 15+ designer fabrics. Cream boucle is shown here and is the version the design was drawn around, though the arches read quite differently in a deep velvet - sharper, more graphic, less soft. Order a free fabric swatch before you decide; our guide to weave, wear and feel explains what changes between a looped weave and a flat one, and there is more on how the frames are put together on our craftsmanship page.
The questions people actually ask
- What size television fits? The lift takes screens up to 55 inches and 40kg. The television is not included - the mechanism, the mounting bracket and the internal cable routing are.
- How long does it take? Every Volta is made to order in Liversedge, so please allow 15-30 business days from order to delivery.
- Where do you deliver? Free delivery to mainland UK addresses (England, Wales and mainland Scotland), kerbside as standard. White Glove delivery to your room of choice is available as a paid upgrade at checkout.
- Will it fit my room? Measure the clearance above the footboard as well as the floor space, because the screen needs headroom when it rises. Our size guide has the full run of UK bed dimensions.

Handmade to order, which is why we ask you to allow 2-3cm of variance across the range - the mark of a bed actually built by hand rather than stamped out.
If the Volta is close but not quite
The Onda keeps the curve but simplifies it to a single rolled footboard, the Riflesso trades soft for bevelled mirror, the Luminosa takes the headboard up to wall height with a gold inlay, and the Aureo puts the lift in the headboard rather than the footboard. All five sit together in the television bed collection. For the room around it, the Luxe and Eleganza collections share the same fabric range, and if hidden storage matters more than a hidden screen, start with the ottoman gas-lift beds. Still deciding how much bed a room can carry? Our guide to choosing a luxury bed is a useful place to start.
Order your swatches, choose your fabric, and we will start cutting. If you would rather spread the cost, payment options are available at checkout.

- Remove all packaging — cardboard and wrapping taken away and disposed of responsibly
Before We Arrive
Please measure your doorways, staircases and corridors (we’re happy to advise on dimensions), clear the delivery path, and make sure someone aged 18+ is home during the window.
If Something Goes Wrong
If we can’t complete a delivery, we’ll contact you straight away to reschedule and store your bed safely for up to 14 days at no charge. In the unlikely event of transit damage, tell the delivery team and we’ll arrange a repair or replacement.
Old Bed Removal
We can responsibly dispose of your old mattress and bed frame for a small additional fee — just email sales@belsognobeds.co.uk when you place your order.
