At the end of a long day, a bedroom shouldn't look like a living room that happens to have a bed in it. The Riflesso settles that quietly. The television lies flat inside the footboard, out of sight, until you press the remote and it rises into view. Press it again and it sinks back down, and the room goes back to being a bedroom.

The lift is motorised and remote-controlled, built for screens up to 55 inches and 40kg, and it travels slowly enough that whoever is already dozing beside you stays that way. Everything that makes it work sits inside the frame: the mechanism, the power feed, the cable run. No bracket driven into the plasterboard, no HDMI lead taped down the wall, no black box on a stand gathering dust in the corner.

Mirror, and the frame behind it

What you notice first, though, is the light. Bevelled mirror panels frame the headboard on both sides and wrap the footboard, so the bed catches a bedside lamp at 10pm and the window at 7am, and a modest room reads wider than it measures. It is a piece of Italian bedroom theatre, the kind of confidence you would find in a Milanese apartment, built on a hardwood frame and hand-finished in our Liversedge workshop, where mirror and upholstery are fitted panel by panel rather than pressed out in one shot.

Hardwood matters more here than on an ordinary bed. A moving mechanism puts load through the footboard every single day, and a softwood frame dressed up to look sturdy starts to feel loose long before the fabric ever wears out. The channel tufting is built the same honest way: the foam is stacked in vertical channels from the base up, so the ribbing holds its shape under an elbow or a stack of pillows instead of flattening into a memory of itself after a year.
